Illness pt 5 end

Well at long last the end of `Illness` hope you guys enjoy it, still on my GMD break but I might get back in the saddle with it don't know when.

The next day Ryo arrived back at the hospital with a small bouquet of white roses with a few wisteria flowers and the card Yuli had made for her, he arrived in the room and found her doctor checking things over.

“Back again I see? It's been three days,” said the doctor noticing Ryo.

“Is that how long it's been? Feels like it's been longer than that,” answered Ryo as he stood at her bedside.

“It always is. Vitals are normal, BP normal, everything seems....uh her heart rate went up a bit,” said the doctor heard the heart rate monitor going just a tiny bit faster, Ryo thought it was a sign, a good sign, he held Selena's hand and held his breath.

“Is that good?” asked Ryo sounding hopeful.

“I'm not sure, sometimes it is and other times it's not,” answered the doctor. Ryo could see Selena's eyes started to flutter a bit as if she was trying to open them but something was keeping her from doing so. Ryo still held Selena's hand and leaned over her.

“Se...Selena...?” Ryo asked her softly, very weakly Selena could at last open her eyes, Ryo could see the mint green coloring of her eyes once she partly opened them, he felt the air leave his lungs, he couldn't believe it.

“Selena....you're awake....?!? Doc she's awake!!” exclaimed Ryo. The doctor could see he was telling the truth and couldn't believe his eyes either.

“My god you're right!” agreed the doctor, Selena looked around, she wanted to speak but she couldn't, she felt as if there was something wrong with her voice, she looked at the others hoping for an answer as a few nurses came in, the doctor placed a reassuring hand on her shoulder.

“Don't try to talk Miss. LaRoweau you have a tube down your throat, but we'll take it out for you in a little bit,” the doctor told her, then he looked at Ryo.

“We'll get her unhooked from all these machines and get her settled in a different room then you and your friends can see her then,” the doctor told him. Ryo hadn't felt this overjoyed in so long, Selena even with a breathing tube down her throat managed to give him a weak smile.

“Selena I'll be right back, the others might already be here, they'll be so happy,” Ryo told her, he rushed out of the room and burst through the ICU doors, he found his friends sitting in the waiting area, they looked up to see him.

“Guys!!” yelled Ryo, they gathered around him.

“Ryo?” asked Anne.

“What's going on man?” Cye asked him, he looked at his friends with a big smile.

“Selena's awake! She just woke up! She's alright!” answered Ryo, everyone looked at each other with hints of hope in their eyes, Mary grabbed his shoulders.

“Don't kid us right now! Really?!” exclaimed Mary, Ryo pulled her hands off him.

“I was there! She woke up,” Ryo told her. Everyone let out a bated breath.

“Oh good,” said Mia.

“Yes!” Kento cheered.

“Praise the goddess!” said Anne.

“So she's going to be alright now?” asked Yuli, Rowen bent down to him.

“It's looking like it,” answered Rowen, Twilight gave him a surprise large hug, even gave Rowen a kiss, she then looked at Ryo.

“Will we be able to see her soon?” asked Twilight, by then the doctor had come out to speak to them.

“I can answer that, we've taken her off the ventilator and moved her to a different room, she's settling in but really wants to see all of you, but try and not to overwhelm her too much,” the doctor answered.

“We understand,” said Cye.

The doctor gave them directions to where Selena's room was and Ryo lead the way, they stopped at her door, for the first time in three days the friends would be reunited.

“Here's her new room,” said Ryo as he placed his hand on the door handle, he looked back at his friends.

“Can you guys hang back for a bit, I want to have a little time with her,” he told them.

“Sure, let us know when we can come in,” said Mary.

Ryo quietly entered the room, Selena's bed had been propped up, she still had the IV hooked up to her arm, to him she seemed so pale and a bit weak, he came over to her bedside and noticed she was barely awake.

“Selena?” Ryo asked softly, Selena turned to him, she seemed to have grown a bit stronger when he was with her.

“Hey...you came back,” replied Selena still sounding a bit tired.

“You knew I came?” Ryo asked her.

“I could hear your voice every time you spoke to me, and I also heard the poems you read to me yesterday, they were so beautiful,” answered Selena as she placed a hand on his face.

“You still sound pretty weak, you sure you want to see the others? I can tell them to wait until tomorrow,” said Ryo, but Selena shook her head.

“I really want to see them, besides the doctor told me that the antibiotic they gave me made me pretty weak, they want to keep me here a few more days until they're sure I'm a bit stronger,” Selena told him, Ryo smiled and took her hand.

“If you're sure,” said Ryo.

“You know I am my fire-tiger,” said Selena, Ryo was careful as he held Selena's hand that was on his face.

“Alright then, my beloved moonlight,” Ryo told her, as he kissed her forehead, he turned his head toward the door where he knew the others were waiting. “Guys you can come in she's ready,” said Ryo. The others heard the cue and filed in, they all smiled happily to see their friend.

“Hey Lena-chan,” greeted Mary.

“You look worse for wear,” Sage pointed out, Cye stepped in with a tiny bouquet of red roses.

“How do you feel Selena?” asked Cye.

“We've missed you girl,” said Twilight giving her a light hug.

“When are you coming back?” Kento asked, they all lightly laughed.

“Guys don't overwhelm her, she's suffered enough,” said Mia stepping in, Selena smiled a bit.

“It's alright,” Selena told her.

“But we're so glad you're getting better, there are two more visitors outside, Anne you two coming in?” said Mary at the door, Anne opened to door and came in.

“Yeah, and I have someone who's been wanting to see you for a good while,” Anne told her, she placed her hand on Yuli's back who stood behind her, the boy peeked out from behind her, he let out slight gasp when he saw Selena sitting up and smiling at him.

“Selena!” cried Yuli as he dashed out from behind Anne and ran up to Selena's bed, grabbing a hold of her hand, had to be a bit careful where he grabbed her hand.

“Easy kiddo she's still pretty tender and watch the IV drip,” Rowen told him, he saw the child was holding Selena's hand a bit tightly.

“It's alright Rowen,” said Selena, Yuli looked up at her.

“I've really missed you, Selena, are you better? When are you coming home?” Yuli started to ask what felt like a million questions, thankfully Kento stepped in to least calm him down.

“Slow down on the questions small fry, you heard the doctor don't overwhelm her,” said Kento rubbing the child's head, Selena gave a light laugh and pulled her hand from Yuli's grip once Kento had removed his hand from Yuli's head she started to motherly rub the child's head with a small smile.

“To answer those questions, I am getting better, as for when I'll be home it should be a few more days, the doctor said I need to stay a bit longer just to make sure I'm fully better,” answered Selena, Anne came over and lifted Yuli onto Selena's hospital bed, he sat next to but was careful on where he sat.

“We're just so glad you're alright and we can't wait for you to come home,” Twilight told her friend.

“Can't wait to get home, I'm tired of being in this hospital, it's about to drive me nuts,” replied Selena.

“Would you mind if we threw you a welcome home party back at the house? We've all been on edge we need something to get our minds off the last few days,” Cye asked her, Selena thought it sounded like a good idea.

“Sounds fun,” answered Selena.

“I'll make sure they keep it small and quiet,” said Mary, all the others looked at Kento, he was a bit clueless at first.

“Why are you looking at me when you say that?” asked Kento, Mary rolled her eyes.

“Cause we know how you can get with these things, so please don't go wild and crazy,” answered Sage.

“Alright alright, I'll keep it on the down-low for Selena's health,” said Kento. “Thank you,” everyone answered, they all stayed for a good while and talked until it was nightfall, Mia looked at her watch and saw how late it was, she thought it was time to leave.

“It's getting late, we should get home,” Mia told the others.

“You guys go on ahead, I think I'll stay here a while longer,” said Ryo as he looked at Selena with a smile and she smiled back, the others knew they wanted to be together for a while anyway.

“Can I stay too?” asked Yuli, Twilight sighed.

“Yuli Selena needs her rest, I think you should come back....” Twilight started to tell the boy but Ryo interrupted her.

“It's fine Twilight, I promised him he could stay and the doctor said we could spend the night,” Ryo told her as he found some extra blankets in a drawer, Twilight raised a brow but brushed it off, she thought it would be good for the child and she would let it slide.

“Hmm okay, but don't stay up late and NO stressing out Selena, got it kiddo?” Twilight told Yuli, the boy smiled.

“Got it,” answered Yuli.

“See you guys tomorrow,” said Selena as she waved good-by to her friends as they left, leaving the three others to have the room to themselves, they started to talk for a bit.

“You missed so much while you were out Selena,” Yuli told her.

“Did I now?” asked Selena, humoring the child.

“Yep, and Yuli's been waiting to tell you all about it,” Ryo answered her. Selena couldn't help but smile.

“Well I've got some time now, let's hear it,” said Selena. Yuli started to tell her all the things she missed with their friends, funny times, embarrassing moments, a few rough times but it all worked out in the end, the three laughed a bit and before they knew it Yuli had curled up on Selena's left side and was sound asleep, Selena took noticed and Ryo covered him up with a spare blanket.

“He fell asleep,” said Selena softly, putting her left arm around the sleeping child.

“Can you blame him, he's been through a lot the past few days,” replied Ryo as he covered himself up in the chair.

“But he's a trooper. I haven't felt this tired since, you know,” said Selena. Ryo knew right away what she was talking about, some memories came back right away he shook the awful memories away, he turned back to Selena.

“Yeah, but I was right with him about being worried for you, I thought I was going to lose you,” said Ryo taking Selena's right hand again, she pulled her hand out of his and placed it on his face.

“Takes a lot more than you think to get rid of me, I mean we survived two demon wars among other things,” Selena reminded him. Ryo pulled her hand off his face.

“You've been through enough already, get some sleep we'll be here when you wake up,” Ryo told her.

“I know you always will be,” said Selena as the two of them fell asleep.

The next day Selena felt a bit stronger, she didn't know if was rest and IV fluids or the power of MoonStar helping her heal either way she felt better from when she first arrived at the hospital, they heard a knock at the door and a nurse came in holding some papers.

“Good afternoon Miss. LaRoweau, the doctor sent me with your discharge papers,” said the nurse, Selena and Ryo looked at each other a bit confused.

“Dischar...I thought I was staying a bit longer?” Selena asked the nurse, the nurse smiled.

“We think since you've made such a come back the doctor thought you might want to leave early but you might want to take it easy with your friends for the next few days, your boyfriend said your older friend has a large house in the countryside and that might help some,” answered the nurse. Selena and Ryo seemed a bit over-joyed at this.

“Alright then,” agreed Selena.

“Okay then, I'll take your papers out to your friend Mia was it?” replied the nurse.

“Yes,” answered Ryo.

“Alright, be back in a bit to take out the IV,” answered the nurse as left. Ryo hugged Selena's shoulders.

“Early release then, we'll have to tell Cye to move the party up to today,” said Ryo. “Yep, guess so,” Selena told him, Yuli seemed a tiny bit confused while his adoptive siblings talked to the nurse, and it seemed like good news.

“So you're coming home today Selena?” asked Yuli sounding hopeful. Selena smiled at the boy.

“Once the nurse comes back and gets the IV needle out of my arm I'm coming back with you guys,” Selena answered him.

“Yay!!! Selena's coming back!” cheered Yuli as he hugged Selena.

The nurse shortly came back with a small overnight bag, Selena held out the arm the IV was in for the nurse to take out.

“Your friends sent back a change of clothes, and you'll have a wheel-chair until you get the entrance,” the nurse told Selena as she took out the IV needle and bandaged up where it was, the nurse also helped Selena from her bed. “Thank you,” Selena told the nurse as she helped her to the bathroom and left, Selena took the bag and looked back at her friends.

“Just give me a bit,” said Selena.

It didn't take her long to change into her normal clothes, a dress with carpi leggings and flat sandals, she straightened her hair and came out, she felt somewhat refreshed but a good shower would be needed later on then she would feel at least 50 times more refreshed.

“Much better,” said Selena, she staggered a little bit but caught the foot of the bed.

“Selena!” yelled Yuli sounding worried running up to her, she looked at him.

“It's alright, guess I'm still a bit dizzy from the medicine and I have been in a bed for nearly three days so....” before Selena could finish talking Ryo had lifted her into his arms the way a groom would carry his new bride over the threshold, she couldn't help but blush some as they made their way to the door.

“By wolf's tail Ryo what are you?!” exclaimed Selena.

“You are not fainting again, not while I'm around at least,” Ryo told her as they left the room, Yuli following close behind them. Selena smiled at Ryo as he carried her.

“Why are you such a Casanova?” Selena asked him playfully.

“I have a great girlfriend that makes it very easy for me to be one,” answered Ryo as he pressed his forehead to her's, their eyes locked.

“Don't get so ahead of yourself,” Selena told him as she placed a finger on his lips, Ryo smiled at her.

“Can't help it,” said Ryo as he kissed her forehead. Yuli watched to the two them and made a face when they started to get a bit romantic, the two of them hardly notice until the child spoke up.

“Ewwww...Selena, Ryo, you're acting as my parents do sometimes,” Yuli told them making a face.

“Hey you'll find a girl when you're older and you'll get like this,” Ryo told Yuli as he set Selena in her wheel-chair and rubbed this boy's head.

“No I won't,” replied Yuli, Selena and Ryo couldn't help but laugh. Once they arrived at the hospital's main entrance they saw Twilight and Kento to greet them, Twilight had driven Mia's car to bring them all home, once they got to the car Ryo helped Selena out of the wheel-chair.

“Well look who's out from her tomb, ready to head home?” Kento asked Selena.

“More than you know,” answered Selena, suddenly a cherry red Ferrari pulled up to the entrance way, the others couldn't help but notice it.

“Nice car, who's is it?” asked Ryo, Selena and Twilight got the look of dread on their faces as they looked at each other.

`Oh god, not her again,` thought Twilight.

“I know who that car belongs to,” said Selena.

“Catherine,” answered Twilight as they saw the black high heeled shoes stepping out of the car.

“Well my beloved sister shows up, again,” Selena said dryly.

“You want me to punch her for you Selena?” asked Kento, Selena raised her hand.

“No, thanks anyway Kento but I think I'll handle this,” answered Selena as Catherine stepped out of her car and approached them, Yuli hid behind Ryo as Catherine took off her sunglasses and looked at her sister.

“So you live? Guess you'll get back to being with your dirt-poor friends along with your boyfriend,” said Catherine. Selena locked eyes on her.

“You know what Catherine, my friends, and boyfriend may not have the wealth we have but they are the most loyal and supportive friends I could've ever asked for! They have become my brothers and sisters and I wouldn't trade that for anything,” stated Selena.

“Aww standing up for the lower classes, that is so like you,” sneered Catherine, Selena took a few steps toward her sister.

“So what if I am? You wished me dead what kind of sister are you anyway? Besides you're just jealous of what I have now, it's something money can never buy, true friendship and real pure love. Ryo spoke the truth when he said he loves me for me,” replied Selena.

“Oh and more thing,” said Selena, she slapped Catherine across the face hard, everyone was shocked by what she had just done, Catherine stood in shock.

“Selena!!” everyone shouted.

“If you EVER say anything that upsets my friends and Yuli like that again I will have no mercy on you, I don't care if you are my sister! My guiding trite may be compassion but you have none from me!” shouted Selena, she walked away from Catherine and got in the back seat of the red jeep along with Yuli and Ryo, Twilight sat in the drivers seat with the keys pulled out and Kento sat in the passenger seat, once they left the hospital parking lot her friends couldn't hold back the excitement that had built up inside of them.

“Way to go Selena!!” cheered Kento.

“Yeah, way to stand up to your sister like that,” Ryo told her.

“To be fair she's had it coming for a good while and the slap was a nice touch,” said Twilight as she drove home, Selena blushed a little. “Thanks,” Selena told her friends.

“Do you think what you told Catherine will sink in?” asked Kento.

“One can hope,” answered Selena, she felt Yuli curl up next to her.

“Did you mean what you said back there, we really mean that much to you?” Yuli asked her, Selena smiled.

“Of course, you all mean the world to me, I wouldn't trade what I have with you guys for anything,” answered Selena as she gave the boy a big hug, Ryo put his arm around Selena's shoulder.

“Likewise, I wouldn't trade our love for anything,” said Ryo.

“Same for me,” replied Selena as she rested her head on Ryo's shoulder.

“Plus you're the best big sister ever!” exclaimed Yuli as he threw his arms around Selena's neck, everyone in the car laughed, Selena smiled. “You guys,” said Selena.

Twilight drove up the driveway, all of them arriving up to the large house, Twilight shut the engine off and opened the car door. “We're home,” she said helping Selena out of the car until Ryo could get over to her side and support her, then she Kento and Yuli made a dash for the front door, Selena didn't know what they were planning, but it didn't matter she was back where she belonged.

“Good, thought I'd never see this place again, feels good to be back,” Selena told Ryo as he helped her to the door, he opened the door and stepped aside for her to enter first.

“After you,” said Ryo.

“Well such a gentleman,” said Selena, the lights were turned out inside, Selena thought a fuse had blown, but Ryo found the power switch and once the light came on a small party was waiting for them.

“SURPRISE!!!” everyone shouted.

“Welcome home Selena!” they added, Selena felt over-joyed as she let some tears of happiness, how could anyone asked for friends like these, even Anubis had come.

“You guys are the best!” said Selena as Mary handed her a glass full of a drink, everyone gathered around the dining room table and held their glasses.

“I'd like to raise a toast, to Selena's health and recovery!” cheered Mia.

“And may we all have good health in the years to come!” agreed Anne, the friends raised their glasses in the air.

“CHEERS!!” they all shouted clinking their glasses together.
